Electric Bike Riding Tips

Many cyclists like to ride electric bicycles. Cycling is an excellent way to lose weight and be beneficial to health. Let's learn the riding skills of electric bicycles together.

1. Correct riding posture

The upper body is leaning forward, the head is slightly tilted and stretched forward, the eyes are straight ahead, the arms are naturally bent, the hands are lightly and firmly grasp the handlebars, the waist is bowed, and the feet are in a vertical circular pedaling motion, avoiding the left and right legs Swing, distributing your weight more evenly on your hips, feet, and hands.

2. Develop good pedaling habits

Many people are used to touching the pedals with the soles of their feet, which is a very bad habit during long-distance riding. The correct way to pedal should be to pedal with the sole of the foot. However, when riding for a long time, only one position can easily cause fatigue, and the same is true for legs and feet, so it is necessary to change the way of pedaling frequently.

There are three main types of pedaling used by cyclists:
Freestyle pedaling, toe down pedaling, heel down pedaling. One of the most widely used is the freestyle pedaling method. The key to this pedaling method is to touch the pedal with the sole of the foot, the angle between the ankle joint and the calf varies with the position of the foot, and the direction of the force is consistent with the circular tangent formed when the pedal rotates. Its advantage is that the range of motion of the knee joint and thigh is reduced, and the muscles can be relatively relaxed.

3. Uphill riding skills

In general, short slopes should be completed by means of acceleration and inertial upstroke. On long slopes or steep slopes, you should change different gears and maintain a certain pedaling frequency and method of riding.

Uphill riding skills are mainly for long and steep slopes. When going up a long steep slope, the rider's center of gravity should move forward, maintain a constant pedaling motion, change gears in a timely manner, do not pause or force suddenly, and do not get off easily. The timing of changing gears depends on the slope and speed.

There are two principles for mastering the timing of shifting gears. One is to keep the rider’s pedaling intensity even, and the other is to shift gears a little earlier than the time when the gears must be shifted. Unable to complete the shift action, was forced to get out of the car. The steeper the incline, the lower the gear should be. In addition, don't follow the front and rear cars too closely, because when going uphill, it will inevitably sway from side to side, which is prone to accidents.

4. Downhill riding skills

The safety factor when going downhill is very low, so the first rule when going downhill is to ensure safety. In order to ensure absolute safety, the center of gravity should first be shifted back and the following points should be done:
Check the vehicle carefully before going downhill, especially the brakes, so that it remains responsive and reliable;

keep the speed within the rider's control;

When braking, the rear brakes are the main ones, and the front and rear brakes are used at the same time, but the timing of using the front brakes should lag behind the rear brakes, so as to avoid using the front brakes and emergency brakes alone;

Look ahead at least 30 meters, concentrate, don't look around, slow down in advance when you find the situation, for example, you should pay attention when the color of the road changes;

When passing through the curve, the body and the car should be kept on the same plane or in a straight line. The person and the car should be inclined to the inside of the curve at the same time to overcome the centrifugal force. The angle of inclination depends on the speed and the radius of the curve, but Generally, it does not exceed 28°, do not overtake on the curve, and it is best not to overtake when going downhill;

The rear car and the front car should keep a large distance (not less than 30 meters) to prevent the front car from affecting the line of sight, and it is too late to brake in a sudden situation and an accident occurs;

If the slope is too long or too steep, you should get off the car to rest and check the vehicle in time. When getting off the car, try to reduce the speed and lean back to ensure the balance of the body when parking.

5. Gear up in advance before climbing

Let the chain and sprocket take the load: It's normal for a drivetrain to experience jumping teeth, friction, or inability to change gears when subjected to heavy loads. When a manual transmission car needs to step on the clutch when shifting gears, how can an electric bicycle not shift gears loosely? This is the case before and after.

6. Ride slowly to ride fast

If you want to improve your riding, do a field test or have a professional measure your lactate threshold power and heart rate for you to enhance with training. Training in an easy zone below the lactate threshold can be faster on long runs or rides, as the case may be.

7. Change the position of your hands on the handlebars every few minutes, hold the lower handlebars, turn your hands, and practice the upper handlebars: This exercise allows your muscles and nerves to adapt, and when it is windy or climbing Unleash the power.

How to avoid cars

Rider encounters with cars on the road are inevitable and frequent. How to ensure driving safety and avoid traffic accidents, you can refer to the following points:

Train your ability to see six ways and listen to all directions, that is to say, you can judge the type and approximate distance of the car coming from behind only by listening without looking back, and you can more accurately judge the distance and distance of the oncoming car by visual inspection. speed.

On narrower roads, do not pull over to avoid prematurely, so that the driver can find himself as soon as possible, so as to slow down and avoid the danger when approaching.

When there are cars coming from the front and back, and there will be cars near you, you should speed up or decelerate to avoid the meeting point.
Don't follow the car too closely when going downhill to avoid danger when the car brakes hard.

The color of the clothing (cycling clothing) is preferably brighter, such as red and yellow. It is convenient for car drivers to find themselves.
